El Hazard TV Series: The Wanderers El Hazard: The Wanderers

[The Lovely Ladies of El Hazard {OVA}]

I'll put the rest of this series up here when I get the chance.

El Hazard looks like a very promising, interesting, and funny series from what I've seen so far. It's one of those 'ordinary high school boy gets sucked into another dimension because of and accident in the science lab' stories; but by now anyone should know that all of these stories are different from anything else.
Student Makoto (or Makoto-Chan ^_^) has been working on a science project at school, and he doesn't even know what sort of project it is! But, he does know that with this sort of project, an unexpected reaction might occur. (Boy, he hit THAT one right on the mark!) When jelous student council president Jinnai tries to wreck Matoko's expiriment, it accidentally sucks Matoko, Jinnai, Nanami, and Mr. Fujisawa in another dimension, the mysterious, dangeous, and beautiful land of El Hazard.
Now they've got to find a way back to earth, but they have to visit a ton of shrines along the way and proform many tasks before even knowing if they can get home. That's about all you need to know. Have fun.
The Adventure Begins: Quest 1

Episode 1: Drawn into the Land of Adventures
Meet Makoto-Chan, a cutish high school student who's great with girls, keeps up with his studies, and is adored by everyone, except Jinnai. Jinnai is the jelous (and pretty shoopid) Student Council President, who's not only really weird but very psychotic. (He reminds me of Tatewake Kuno, the way he laughs and all. He looks like a monkey!) The only thing that every seems to be on his mind is 'getting even' with Matoko. (Even though I don't see what's to get even over. Sure, he might be good with girls, but, still... {?})
So, he does what any not-so-intelligent high school student would do, get a huge bag of black panties to strew all over Matoko's expiriment/project. But, when he does, he gets a little distracted by the power cables, and there's a small accident...

Episode 2: Exploring the Kingdom of Mystery
Now that Makoto's been thrown into El Hazard, he finds out how great, and bad, this new world can be. (The bad part is mostly because there are all those big bug thigies running around.) he saves the princess Rune from one of these bug thingies compleatly by accident, but then it seems that they're going to be bug-lunch anyway. Then, all of the sudden, Rune discovers Mr. Fujisawa! (He's got a slight hangover, so don't blam him that he acts a little weird.) Amazingly, Mr. Fujisawa defeats the buggers in just a few blows, so he's now dubbed as the 'man with superhuman powers.'
Then, the princess invites them back to her castle, but where are Nanami and Jinnai?

Quest 2: Water, Wind, and Fire

Episode 3: The Enchanting Princess
Mr. Fujisawa and Makoto have been released from the palace to continue their search for a way to get back to earth, after a rather... embarressing incident... between Rune and Makoto. They are also given 100 roshtiels, which should let them eat for about a week (so that's about 30,000 yen {or about $400. I think. Could be mistaken though.})
Unfourtunatly, they meet up with Jinnai along the way, and he's up to his usual 'worship me, ignorant masses!' thing again. This is also the episode in which we meet Diva, the ruler of the Bugrom.
(Don't you just love that funny humongo fuzzy thing that Makoto mistakes for a towel? 'And he's usally so shy, he rarely approaches anyone.' Yeah right! Shy my-)

Episode 4: The Lonely Priestess
The group learned that there are three great priestesses in th land which are more powerful than any other, and they live in the shrines of Water, Wind, and Fire (I think there's a title in here somewhere) that might know a way for them to get back to earth. First of the shrines: the Shrine of Water, who's resident preistess is Miss Miz (Hmm... Mizu.. Miz... hmm... No koinkydink, that.) Poor Miss Miz, all of her friends are marrying off one by one, and she hasn't even had a single date, ever! So, when Mr. Fujisawa comes along, a highly avalible young bachelor with a stable job, she seizes the opportunity immediatly, and they go on a date, only to have him say almost all the wrong things. Don't worry though, I think she really likes him anyway! (What wuz yur first clue?)

Episode 5: The Shrine of Wind
They go to the next shrine, The Shrine of Wind, which is occupied by Afura Mann (a very kewl priestess, even though she's a little hard at first.) She's very proud of her great collection of books, which she's collected from all over the world.
Oh, and another thing, only those who serve the shrine may enter the shrine, so they can't look for information. It doesn't really matter that much, since Afura has no space to store the books the shrine is very cramped and she can't really arrange them, so they probably couldn't find anything anyway.
'If the library behiund the shrine was compleated, than maybe you could find what you were looking for.' 'What if we built you library? That's serving the shrine, isn't it?'
So now Makoto, Fujisawa and Alielle have to build the new library for Miss Mann. (Well, actually, just Alielle and Makoto, since Mr. Fujisawa finds some juice and is passed out on the floor almost the entire time.)

Episode 6: A game of Chance and Fire
Well, this is the last shrine. In order to reach the Shrine of Fire, which is occupied by Miss Shayla-Shayla, they have to cross a vast desert. When they get there, they see this strange bathmat walking around by its self. 'Look! It fell over!'
Then go to investigate it, only to discover it's miss Shayla herself!
'But why's she dressed like this?' [Swwish... ~Blush~]
They help her get back to the shrine, but when they try and ask her if she knows how to get back to Earth, she absolutly does not listen. Why? Turns out that the shrine's been seized!
Hey , why was she dressed in a bathmat anyway? Well, there's this card game in El Hazard called pettan, and there's this man who she would play against, and he would beat her every time! She lost her clothes, the lamp of fire; even the shrine in the end. Now they have to go to this man and see what they can do to get the shrine back. It turns out that the man is no other than-
Jinnai!

Quest 3: Reunion of Destiny

Episode 7: A Golden Opportunity
Nanami so far has managed to survive in this new world of El Hazard by taking jobs at assorted places. Now she's working at a run down beach side resturant as chef and dishwasher. In a desparate attempt to find some sort of spice to add a really nice flavour to the food, she remembers the soy sauce she had with her when she landed in El Hazard, and tries it out. It's an instant hit, so big of a hit in fact that she uses it to go into business for herself. She conducts her business everywhere, even at a festival where she barely misses meeting up with Makoto. In her business wanderings she finds her way to the palace of water, where she soon learns she can't conduct business without a permit...

Episode 8: Reunion!
Miss Miz has left the shrine in Nanami's care and gone off to search for her true love; who's no other than Mr. Fujisawa. She finds him and is overjoyed, but he doesn't seem quite as thrilled. There's this legend about a fountaine, that if two lovers throw a coin into it, and water spo- well, you'll see. Just when Miss Miz's dream is about to come true, something goes wrong and the fountain runs out of water!
Naturally, something must be wrong with the Shrine of water! "Could it be Bugrom!?"
They run off to investigate, only to discover that Nanami's turned the shrine into a giant 'tourest attraction'...
(By the by, did anyone besides me catch Pretty Sammy's Guest appearence in this one? She's fighting this big green monster guy and it's kind of a little characature, but it's unmistakably her!)

Episode 9: House of Thieves!
Oo! Nanami is having her resturant's grand opening in Roshtaria, when all of the sudden they run out of vegetables!
"Why don't you just go to the store and buy some more!" "No, I mean Roshtaria's compleatly out of vegetables!!"
Someone's stolen all of the vegetables, and no matter how much they 'beef up their security', but they're still being stolen every night! Makoto is determined to find the culprit, who turns out to be...

Episode 10: The Jungle Beast!
Wandering through El Hazard, Makoto and Co. go through a village in which there have been many attacks on livestock and crops trampled by a monster. Makoto says they'll get rid of it for them (why though? {Just tryin' to be nice, I guess})
They go out searching for the monster, but find a li'l creature who resembles a cat who's been badly wounded by the monster. They try to make friends with it when the monster appears! It turns out to have a taste for the li'l critter, and if it weren't for Nanami being such a good cook (heh heh) they would've been beast food. They manage to get back to the village and care for the li'l critter whop was wounded even more by the big beasty. They give it the name 'Ura', and I think it likes that name well enough. They make all sorts of traps and pitfalls to try and catch the monster, but it's not going to be that easy...

Quest 4: The Ultimate Weapon

Episode 11: A Child's Heart
Makoto, Princess Rune, and Mr. Fujisawa are helping to take care of the children at an orphanage. It's not all fun and games, though, there are back breaking 'horsie rides', diper changes (not to be done by the faint of heart or the faint of stomach), and toys and baby pee all over the place. During all of this, Makoto still finds the time to pick flowers. (No, no, it's not for Rune or anything like that. They turn out to be part of his 'invention', a sort of light which runs when the handle is cranked and uses a sort of plant for the filiment. Just when things are starting to go better, Makoto accidentally upsets a reckless young girl named Miri. Now the group must find Miri and convince her to come home and let her know that she's loved. Not to much action in this one, but still an okay episode.

Episode 12: Tomb of the Demon God
There is a legend that when the land burns with an emence heat, then an ancient castle, the tomb of a horrible demon, will appear in the sky. This demon is also the most powerful weapon in the worldÉ and turns out to be a beautiful young girl (hmm, now who does this remind me of? ^_^)
Now, the time the the legends have foretold has come. Makoto, Princess Rune and co. must go to the palace in the sky and realseal it before something, dreadful happens.
But, as I said before, this deamon is the most powerful weapon in the world. And who would do anything to get their hands on the ultimate power? You guessed it, Jinnai.

Episode 13: Pure Evil Genius!
The demon has been ressurected, and is now in the hands of the most evil student council president Earth or El Hazard has ever known. Who knows what terrible plans he may want the demon, Ifurita, who has enough power to distroy Roshtaria, to carry out for him?
The only thing is, Ifurita may be a demon, but she's basically good at heart, kinda like Ryouko (Tenchi Muyo! 'Cept Ryouko isn't exactly a demon)
Ifurita can't use her powers if her concious bothers her about it. And destroying all those people's homes, well now that just wouldn't be right, would it?

Episode 14: The Legendary Snow Fields
There is a legendary snow that falls every one-hundred years in a secret place in the kingdom of El Hazard, the snow which brings happiness.
"But how can it snow in such a warm place?"
It's almost time for the legendary snow to fall, and everybody's going on a trip to where Dr. Schalberg or whatever the heck his name is has calculated it'll fall.
Jinnai has got some rotten spies, they were able to tell his that it was legendary, but they didn't even bother finding out what 'it' was. But that doesn't matter to Jinnai, whatever it is, it's legendary, so that must mean it's some sort of power, right? Now he's after them to get the 'power', even though there isn't any to find. (shrugs) *Oh Well.* To bad for him, huh? And to bad for everyone's who's going to go and watch the snow, too...

Comments: Pretty interesting, and very funny at times. This is gonna' get even better as it goes on, methinks. Funny, great charecter design, interesting, pretty good animation, nice soundtrack, very nice colouring on this one. They swear a little bit, and it's a little confusing at first, but only for a few minutes into it. Also, it's got a bit of ciggies and alchohol, but that's in just about every anime series, so I don't really care. Pretty freakin' cool.
